Blaze sniffed the floor, nothing in the house!
Friend Hathesni touched the lock, gave it a little click
Then a tentacle gave her a sloppy, wet lick! (Eww!)
We walked down the hall, spooky and dark
Looking for a bite, looking for a mark!
Opened up the door with the face so grim
Surprise party time! Let the fun begin!

The Scorpion King sat on his big chair

My puppy lit up like a fire in the room!
He ran through the flies, he’s a brave good boy
He melted a zombie like a plastic toy!
It smelled like burnt toast, all gooey and red
But oh no, oh no! The King wants us dead!

Two smelly zombies grabbed Blaze by the fur
He couldn't bite back, he couldn't even purr!
They walked to the hole, deep and black
They threw my puppy and he can't come back!

He’s a pancake now, flat on the floor

Frozen stiff in the swarming clouds
Lost inside the rotting crowds

Kakariki

Oh-ho-ho! Kakariki finds himself in a sleepy room! We wake up, stretch big stretches, and look at big double doors. Blaze sniffs. Sniff sniff. Blaze says, "Nothing here, boss." Blaze is very smart (usually). Friend Hathesni tickles the lock with her metal sticks. Click! But then—SQUISH! Big wiggly tentacle tries to give Hathesni a sloppy kiss! Yuck! Too sticky! Kakariki laughs, but quietly.

We go down dark hallway. Spooky! Another big door with a face on it. Gems are gone. Maybe someone ate them? Kakariki checks for traps. Kakariki looks high, looks low, looks... well, Kakariki sees nothing. "Safe!" Kakariki says. (Yes yes, very professional). Friend Kemurial opens the door and—SURPRISE!

So many bony friends! And a big scary man sitting in a chair! He is the Scorpion King! (Very fancy hat, Kakariki thinks). He points a finger and—BZZZZZT! Bugs! Bugs everywhere! Biting bugs! Nasty bugs!

Kakariki says, "Go Blaze! Be the best boy!" Kakariki makes Blaze fast! Zoom! Kakariki makes Blaze scary! Grrrr! Blaze runs through bugs (brave puppy!), and ptooey! Spits lava on a zombie. Sizzle! Zombie melts like butter on toast. Good boy, Blaze!

But then... oh no. Bad day starts now. Scorpion King looks at Blaze. Gives him the stinky eye. Zap! Blaze stops moving. Blaze is statue now. Frozen puppy. Friend Rory gets mad! (Rory is scary when mad). He makes three Rorys! But then he gets stuck too! Everyone is stuck! Why is everyone playing statues without telling Kakariki?

Friend Kemurial goes ZAP with lightning and WHOOSH with fire! Bony friends go crunch-crunch-crackle. Scorpion King looks extra crispy. Kakariki tries to help! Kakariki shoots arrow! ...Arrow hits wall. Boing. "Kakariki meant to do that," Kakariki whispers.

Then—the worst thing! The rudest thing! Two smelly zombies grab poor frozen Blaze. They hug him (no consent!) and walk to a big hole. They throw Blaze! Weeeeeeee! Blaze falls down, down, down. Splat. Kakariki gasps. "Blaze!" Blaze is pancake now. 100 feet down! "Blaze says he is okay," Kakariki lies. Blaze says nothing. Blaze is smooshed.

Friend Hathesni makes big boom! Fire everywhere! Ouchie! But then... poof! Sky gods say, "Time for bed!" Adventure over! Kakariki needs a treat. And a very long rope to get his puppy back. Yes yes.

Rory

sooo... i dont weewy no how we got hear but we woke up in a thweepin woom with thome dorth. hathethnee twied to unwo... opin the dorth and she did but a big wiggwiy tentacow thing popd owt and twied to thmak her but she got away.

we went down a dark hawwway and fownd thome big fanthy dorth with a fath and a cwown on em but thomewon took aww the pwetty jemth awwedy. kakawiki chekd for twapth but ther wath nun and kimiweel opind the dor.

OH NO inthide wath a whowe awmy of unded guyth wike thkewetonth and zombth and mummyth. and thitting on a big chare wath a guy that wooked wike a thcorpion. he pointid at uth and the fite wath on.

the thcorpion king made a huge cwowd of bugth apere in the hawwway and it wath thuper gwoth. kimiweel shot witening at them and dwank a poshin of thpeed to go fathd. kakawiki did majik to make hith hewwhound bwaythe go thuper fathd to and bwaythe wan in and kild a zomb with wava thpit but then the thcorpion king wooked at bwaythe and made him thtuck tho he cudnt move.

i got weewy mad and wan into the bug cwowd and made majik copyth of mythelf tho the bad guyth wudnt no wich won wath me. hathethnee did thome twiwite majik and thtawted fwoating in the air.

then the thcorpion king wooked at me with hith thpooky eyeth and i got thtuck to i cudnt move at aww it wath tewwibow. kimiweel thwowed a GIANT fierbawl and buwnd up a buncha the bad guyth and it huwt the king and the mummyth a wot. but then the king yewwd at me to thtop and i had to withen to him i dont no why i juth thtopd.

kakawiki shot the king and bwaythe cud move agin but then the king made a thandthtorm and bwaythe got bwinded. the king twied to hit me weewy hawd but he hit my copy inthted haha jokeith on u. two zombth gwabbed poor bwaythe and cawied him to a big hoew and thwowed him down it. NOOOO BWAYTHE.

kimiweel and hathethnee thwowed mowe fierbawlth and it wath weewy hot in ther. kakawiki twied to shoot agin but he mithd weewy bad. i wath thtill thtuck and the king huwt me weewy bad with thome ewvil majik but i wath abow to thhake it off a witel bit.

then aww of a thuden it wath ovir i think maybee it wath a dweem or thomethin cuz it juth ended but man i hope bwaythe ith ok down that hoew.

dwaugnir that wath a weird day. pwease make shur bwaythe ithnt huwt too bad and hewp me find mom and dad.

Private Notes

• We find ourselves in a sleeping chamber of sorts and are presented with double locked doors. Blaze the Hellhound smells nothing beyond them, and Rory hears nothing.
• Hathesni attempts to pick the lock, and does, but triggers a tentacle trap, which she somewhat avoids.
• We open the doors and find steps and a dark corridor leading to another set of double doors. These are ornate, with a face and crown carved into it. Gems have long been removed, presumably by those seeking treasure.
• Kakariki checks for traps and finds none.
• Kemurial finds that the doors are locked. The keyholes are surrounded by heavy scratches.
• Kemurial attempts to pick the lock, and does so successfully!
• He opens the doors and finds an army of undead, including an undead master of some sort sitting atop a throne. With an undead gasp, the Scorpion King raises a finger to awaken his army. INITIATIVE!!!

  • Round 1

    • Scorpion King - Insect Plague in the hallway. Kemurial saves, Hathesni fails.
    • Skeleton - Shortbow would hit, but Kemurial casts Shield.
    • Ghast - Walks up to doors, Dodge.
    • Zombie - Up to door, Dodge.
    • Skeleton - Shot misses Kemurial.
    • Kemurial - Lightning Bolt, taking out some enemies. Bonus Action Potion of Speed. Moves back into sleeping chambers.
    • Mummy -
    • Kakariki - Cast Haste on Blaze, Fiendish Form for Blaze, Blaze runs through Insect Plague, saves, attacks Zombie with Lava Spittle, hits and kills it. End of turn, Scorpion King Paralyzes Blaze.
    • Rory - Rage, move into Insect Plague, save, Mirror Image.
    • Ghast - Hits Blaze, Blaze saves.
    • Hathesni - Channel Divinity Twilight Sanctuary, Steps of Night, Whispering Cloak, floats 15' upward.
    • Mummy - Move up, Dreadful Glare on Blaze, Blaze saves.
    • Zombie - Misses Blaze.

  • Round 2

    • Scorpion King - Moves up, multiattack at Rory, starting with Dreadful Glare, Rory fails and is Paralyzed. Channel Negative Energy hits.
    • Skeleton - Fires at and hits Blaze. End of turn, Scorpion King uses Legendary Action to cast Necrotic Strike for Channel Negative Energy at Rory, but it's a Legendary Failure.
    • Zombie - Misses Blaze.
    • Skeleton - Moves, shortbow at Rory misses.
    • Zombie - Misses Blaze.
    • Kemurial - Steps up, Fireball at Scorpion King and nearby minions. Legendary Resistance. The fire seems super effective against the Scorpion King and mummies. Kills three enemies in the blast. End of turn, Scorpion King uses Legendary Action to cast Dread Command on Rory, Rory fails the save, Rory must Halt next turn.
    • Kakariki - Moves, fires at Scorpion King, hits. Blaze is no longer paralyzed, but is now Blinded from the Scorpion King's Sandstorm. End of turn, Scorpion King would've crit Rory, but it hit his Mirror Image instead. One image left.
    • Rory - Halts.
    • Ghast - Misses Blaze.
    • Kemurial - Floats down, Beacon of Hope.
    • Zombie - Help action.

  • Round 3

    • Scorpion King - Dreadful Glare on Rory, Rory fails and remains Paralyzed. Hits Mirror Image with Channel Negative Energy. Moves away.
    • Skeleton - Hits Rory. End of turn, Scorpion King paralyzes Blaze.
    • Zombie - Grapples Blaze, carries him to hole. The other Zombie walks over, grapples Blaze and drops him down the well. Poor Blaze, grappled, blind, paralyzed, incapacitated, now 100' down a hole and prone. At least he's not grappled anymore I guess!
    • Kemurial - Fireball, taking out lots of enemies and making the Scorpion King use his last Legendary Resistance. End of turn, Scorpion King Channels Negative Energy at Rory but misses.
    • Kakariki - If he could rage, he would. Moves up, fires at Scorpion King and misses with a Nat 1. Great. Hidden Step. End of turn, Scorpion King commands Rory to Halt again. -.-
    • Rory - Halts.
    • Ghast - I don't even know.
    • Hathesni - Fireball, Scorpion King takes full damage! Healing Word on Kemurial.

  • Round 4

    • Scorpion King - Harm on Rory, who saves.

We just call it here since this was just a fun one-shot.
