Oh-ho-ho! No rest for Kakariki and Blaze!
We saved Praag from the big spike-boss, but the mean albino spell-brothers ran away into the dark! Then poor Ulrika-friend went missing, and her horse came back looking all bloody and sad... Felix was so worried! So we had to put on our brave faces and march right down into the spooky catacombs under the city!
We have another new best friend now—Tobias-friend! He works for Gilded Iron too, and he does crazy brain-magic that makes things go BOOM and makes everyone super fast! Before we went under the ground, Kakariki did a big shopping trip and bought shiny Rings of Resistance in every flavor (for extra protection!) and lots of tasty healing juice!
The Rattling Bone Party!
Down, down, down the dark stone stairs we went! Kemurial stopped us with his peepers and held up two fingers—clatter-clatter-rattle! Skeletons everywhere!
Kakariki said, "Go get 'em, Blaze!" and Blaze zipped in like a fast fiery lightning bolt!
-
Blaze breathed a GIANT jet of fire and turned a whole group of bone-guys into ash! WHOOSH!
-
A giant bull-skeleton with big horns tried to stomp Kemurial, but Tobias blasted it with fire-mind-beams, and Friar Karl hit it with shiny holy light!
-
A mean knight in a dark armor tried to throw a big dark purple boom-ball at us, but Blaze just sniffed at the fire part because fire can't hurt Blaze!
-
Kakariki took aim with his trusty sling—PEW-PEW!—and scored a GIANT super-duper hit right on a flaming skeleton! CRACK!
The Giant Crying Chain-Baby!
Then Kemurial heard spooky noises coming from a round room. Blaze ran in, leaped right over a scary ghost-wraith, and looked up... Eeeewww!
Floating 30 feet in the air, hanging from rusty chains, was a GIANT, UGLY, CRYING CHAOS BABY MONSTER!
It let out a huge WAAAAAH! scream that made everyone feel super-duper sleepy and weak! Friar Karl threw a fireball, but Kakariki noticed something special: when Kakariki's sling-stones glowed with bright radiant light, the big baby went OUCHIE! It hated the shiny light!
So Kakariki shot him with bright glowing stones, and then Blaze flew right up into the air, chomped down with his hot fiery jaws, and BOOM! Blaze knocked the giant baby monster right out of the sky! Down fell a shiny Radiant War Pick for Zhanis!
Mansion Nap & Super-Dog Magic!
Everyone was feeling super tired from the baby's noisy screaming, so Kemurial pulled out his magic key and popped open a GIANT FLOATING MANSION!
We drank some super tasty energy juice, Zhanis made a giant yummy magic feast with lots of treats, and Kakariki gave everyone a big cheering pep-talk! * Belly full of yummy food and bellies feeling tough again! Yes, yes!*
After we woke up, Tobias did the COOLEST magic trick ever! He used his brain-powers on Blaze, giving him super-duper muscles and turning Blaze’s doggy-brain into a GIANT SUPER-GENIUS BRAIN! Blaze looked so smart and proud!
The Snake-Lady & The Sarcophagus!
We opened a secret door in the round room and found a big ziggurat pyramid! A dark vampire lady cast a sticky, blinding black-blob spell (Hunger of Hadar!), and suddenly a GIANT SIX-ARMED SNAKE-LADY WITH SIX SWORDS teleported right in front of Kakariki!
-
She tried to poke Kakariki with all six swords, but Kakariki put up his SHIELD magic—CLANG-CLANG-CLANG! Missed!
-
Blaze fought super hard, but got hurt really badly and fell asleep... Kakariki felt so sad, but Kakariki ran over right away and used his special firbolg magic to wake his fiery puppy back up!
-
Zhanis swung her shiny new Radiant War Pick like a hero!
-
Kakariki shot the dark vampire lady, and Kemurial blasted her with a giant acid-lightning bolt! KABOOM!
Once the bad guys were squished, super-brain Blaze and Kemurial pushed the giant stone lid off a bronze sarcophagus! Creepy crawling hands swarmed out, and a spooky Magebreaker monster rose up!
Kakariki fired a sling-stone, and super-genius Blaze went CRUNCH with a super-duper critical bite, squishing the Magebreaker instantly!
We found a shiny Hydra Charm, a Weapon of Verdict, and magic Beads of Meditation!
No Ulrika yet, but Kakariki and Blaze are ready to keep exploring!
Time for a little cuddle with super-brain fire-dog! Yes, yes!
Private Notes
- Praag survived, but survival hasn't brought peace. Arek is dead, his army scattered. The albino sorcerers have escaped, carrying the fragments of the rituals with them. In the following weeks, they've been seen moving south. Ulrika discovered what they were searching for. Beneath the ruins of Praag was an artifact fashioned centuries ago by a vampire sorcerer. This reliquary can consume and imprison demons and sorcerers. Max gives us more info. Ulrika followed them and has not returned. Her horse was found roaming the road, soaked in blood. Gotrek thinks she's dead. Felix doesn't accept this. Something ancient has awakened around it. We're to enter the catacombs, find the reliquary, and rescue Ulrika... if she's still alive.
- Tobias arrived with the Tzarina. He was on a mission with her. He's part of the Gilded Iron, and has been working with us for about a week since the defeat of Arek Daemonclaw. We're fairly familiar with him at this point regarding his capabilities, and he with ours.
- During our two-week downtime since defeating Arek, Kakariki purchases some Superior and Supreme healing potions, as well as one of every Ring of Resistance (except Necrotic and Poison, because he already has those).
- Our mission now is to find Ulrika, so we head out to find her. We make our way to and down into the catacombs.
- As we push down the unlit stone staircase, we hear something ahead. Kemurial can tell it's the rattle of bone against stone and metal. Skeletons walk these halls.
- Kemurial heads further into the catacombs. He immediately stops us, points left and right while holding up two fingers, indicating there are two skeletons on either side of the corridor that he can see. They don't notice him yet.
- Kemurial suggests that we send Blaze in. Kakariki quietly tells Blaze "Go get 'em, Blaze!" Blaze excitedly sprints into the hallway. He sees more than two skeletons. There are at least six normal sized skeletons, and one larger one in the northern corridor. INITIATIVE!!!
-
Round 1
- Tobias - Bonus Action to use Minor Acceleration on himself. Action to use Incinerate on a skeleton near Blaze.
- Kakariki - Blaze uses Fire Breath on the southern group of skeletons, killing them all. Nice! Blaze sees another group of skeletons beyond a closed portcullis. He moves toward them so as to be out of the way of the rest of the group.
- Zhanis - Moves into the corridor and casts Toll the Dead on the skeleton right in front of him and kills it.
- Skeleton - Moves down to Zhanis and uses Overrun, but Zhanis withstands its attempt. The skeleton just stops and swings at her instead, missing.
- Kemurial - Attacks the skeleton in front of Zhanis, hitting and killing it. He moves into the corridor and swings at another skeleton, hitting and killing it. Bonus Action to drink a Potion of Speed. He moves in a bit further up to a Minotaur Skeleton. Hasted Action to make one more attack, this time at the Minotaur Skeleton, hitting. He adds Sacred Weapon into the attack as well, and does max damage since it's the first time he has hit it.
- Minotaur Skeleton - Attacks Kemurial with Gore, and misses. Then it uses Slam on him, and misses again.
- Friar Karl - Moves up and casts Sacred Flame on the minotaur he can see, doing a good amount of damage to it.
-
Round 2
- Tobias - Uses Incinerate on the minotaur he can see, killing it! Bonus Action to use Minor Acceleration.
- Kakariki - Sends Blaze northward using Brutal Charge to bite the Minotaur Skeleton, hitting. He then moves eastward out of the way of the rest of the party.
- Zhanis - Moves south to the portcullis and casts Command on the Death Knight Aspirant in the other room.
- Kemurial - Moves up and swings his weapon, hitting and doing max damage since it's the first time he's hit them this combat, killing it. Moves southward to the portcullis and casts Sleet Storm in the room past the portcullis. Only the Death Knight Aspirant makes its save, the Flaming Skeletons all fail. Uses Innate Sorcery.
- Death Knight Aspirant - Halts as Commanded.
- Flaming Skeleton - Stands up, tries to swing at Kemurial through the portcullis, missing both attacks.
- Flaming Skeleton - Stands up, tires to Hurl Flames at Kemurial, missing both times.
- Friar Karl - Casts Spiritual Weapon in the southern room with the skeletons and has it attack one, hitting.
-
Round 3
- Tobias - Moves into the corridor and uses Psionic Bolt at a flaming skeleton, and hits. Bonus Action for Minor Acceleration
- Flaming Skeleton - Stands up, Hurl Flames at Kemurial, missing both times.
- Kakariki - Moves to the T in the corridor to watch for enemies, using the Dodge Action. Kakariki moves into the corridor to attack skeletons with True Strike. First attack CRITS, doing 74 damage! WOW! Second one also hits. Then moves back into stairway.
- Flaming Skeleton - Hurl Flames both miss.
- Zhanis - Fire Bolts both miss.
- Kemurial - Casts a 4th Level Transmuted Lighting Bolt as Acid Bolt through the portcullis. All targets fail their saves taking full damage. Nice!
- Death Knight Aspirant - Casts Dispel Magic on the Sleet Storm, getting rid of it.
- Friar Karl - Spiritual Weapon misses the Death Knight Aspirant. Sacred Flame on the Death Knight Aspirant works for a lot of damage!
-
Round 4
- Tobias - Psychic Stab on a Flaming Skeleton, who fails its save, killing it.
- Flaming Skeleton - Hurl Flames both miss.
- Kakariki - Moves in to use his sling with True Strike on a Flaming Skeleton, hitting once. Then moves back onto stairs. Blaze continues Dodging.
- Zhanis - Casts Spirit Guardians and moves into range of a Flaming Skeleton and does some damage to it.
- Kemurial - Attacks with his vicious scimitar through the portcullis, hitting, doing max damage and killing it! Just the Aspirant left.
- Death Knight Aspirant - Casts Hellfire Orb on all of us. Ouch! Kakariki saves, taking half damage, but he's resistant to Necrotic, so takes a quarter of the Necrotic portion of the damage. Blaze fails, taking all the damage, but he's immune to the Fire portion, so that's nice! Everyone else but Tobias makes their save. Tobias uses Bolster Ego to give himself Advantage, and is then able to make his save successfully.
- Friar Karl - Attacks with the Spiritual Weapon, hitting, but doing minimal damage. 2x Orison on Kakariki and Zhanis.
-
Round 5
- Tobias - Steps out and manifests Manipulate Object to use the lever around the corner to open the portcullis.
- Kakariki - Blaze enters a Rampage and moves his full speed toward the Death Knight Aspirant, but since he can't reach him, his Rampage ends without making an attack. Ferocity returns to zero. Kakariki moves into the portcullis room and uses True Strike for two shots at the Aspirant, missing the first shot and hitting the second.
- Zhanis - Moves into the portcullis room. Spirit Guardians hits the Aspirant. Then she casts Lightning Bolt and does some damage after the Aspirant makes its save.
- Kemurial - Tells Friar Karl to get behind him because he hears something coming from the north and uses Dodge to help protect him. Sends his wolf Heaven Mane into the portcullis room, using Dash to get there.
- Death Knight Aspirant - Destructive Wave. Kakariki fails the save. Blaze saves. Heaven Mane fails. Zhanis saves.
- Friar Karl - Spiritual Weapon hits the Aspirant.
-
Round 6
- Tobias - Moves down toward the portcullis room and attacks the Aspirant with Psychic Stab, hitting for some good damage.
- Kakariki - Stands up, Bonus Action to create more Magic Stones. Action to fire a shot at the Aspirant and hits, then uses Wrath of the Pack to try to pull him down, but Blaze's attack misses. Blaze then makes his own attack and misses again. Kakariki moves back up toward where we came for cover.
- Zhanis - Toll the Dead on the Aspirant, it fails its save, doing lots of damage to it, nearly taking it out! Moves back, provoking. The Aspirant would've crit, but Zhanis has Adamantine armor so can't be crit! But Zhanis uses Silvery Barbs, which makes it roll again, and makes it miss completely anyway!
- Kemurial - Stays up north to see what he can see and hear, looking for would-be enemies. He hears the sound of breathing and the rattling of chains to the east. Channel Divinity to sense undead with 60'. Kemurial tells the party not to open the door in this narrow hallway because there are undead inside. Takes the Dodge Action. Heaven Mane stands up.
- Death Knight Aspirant - Dispel Magic on Zhanis. All 3rd Level spells and lower disappear. This includes Spirit Guardians and Orison.
- Friar Karl - Spiritual Weapon hits the Aspirant for a bit of damage. Nearly dead!
-
Round 7
- Kemurial calls out that something is coming from the round room to the east.
- Tobias - Moves up a bit and manifests Incinerate on the space just north of Kemurial.
- Kakariki - Moves down, True Strike. First attack misses, second hits and kills it. Blaze moves up to just north of Kemurial and stands in the fire. To the east he sees an Wraith and Dashes toward it and attempts to Overrun the Wraith, and does so successfully. That's when he sees the Atropal hovering above his head 30' in the air. Ruh roh Raggy. It immediately lets out a loud Wail. Blaze, Kakariki and Kemurial make their saves. Everyone else fails, taking one level of Exhaustion.
- Zhanis - Moves up and Readies Toll the Dead for the first enemy she can see.
- Kemurial - Grabs cloak and flies up and over the Incinerate flames to make a couple attacks at the Wraith. First is a Hasted attack, which hits. Second and attack is from True Strike. Second one hits.
- Wraith - Attacks with Life Drain at Kemurial and misses, then moves into a wall. Because it ends its turn inside the wall, it takes a bit of damage.
- Atropal - Life Drain at Kemurial, and hits. Not good, but Kemurial is Resistant to Necrotic damage, so it isn't as bad as it could be.
- Friar Karl - 2x Orisons on Kemurial and Zhanis. Atropal's Legendary Action to Wail again. Kemurial, Zhanis and Tobias save, everyone else fails. Those who failed take a point of Exhaustion.
-
Round 8
- Tobias - Manifests Beam Gaze. It fails its save, taking some damage and now attacks against it have Advantage. That should help counter the Exhaustion we're gaining from its Wail ability. Uses Glimpse on Kemurial so the next attack against him is made at Disadvantage.
- Kakariki - Blaze Rampages, Kakariki can't prevent it. Blaze flies up and attacks in a Rampage, and hits. Kakariki moves up, can just barely see him and uses True Strike to fire off a couple pebbles with his sling. The first one hits, doing both Lightning and Radiant damage. He notices it takes more damage from one of the damage types, but doesn't know which one it is. Second attack hits as well, doing Radiant damage only, and takes more damage than expected, so now he knows it's vulnerable to Radiant damage at least! Blaze attacks and CRITs the Atropal, doing great damage. The Atropal is near death!
- Zhanis - Moves up, but is ultimately unable to do much.
- Kemurial - Casts Lightning Bolt at the Atropal, ensuring he misses Blaze (thanks Kemurial!). The Atropal fails the save, taking all the Lightning damage. It isn't vulnerable to it, so it just does its normal damage. Now we know Radiant is the answer! Kemurial moves into the room's threshold under the creature.
- Wraith - Reveals itself out of the wall and Life Drains Kakariki, but misses.
- Atropal - Targets Blaze with Life Drain. Blaze fails his save taking lots of Necrotic damage.
- Friar Karl - Moves up and casts Fireball into the room. It makes its Dex save for half damage. The Atropal Wails again. Blaze, Kemurial and Tobias fail, taking another point of Exhaustion each.
-
Round 9
- Tobias - Manifests Aura Projection, but the Atropal makes its save. Bonus Action to use Minor Acceleration to move himself out of harm's way.
- Kakariki - Blaze doesn't enter a Rampage this turn. Kakariki takes aim at the big baby Atropal with True Strike. First attack hits, and kills it! It hangs limp from its chains on the ceiling. Out of the Atropal falls a Radiant War Pick. Kakariki hangs on to it for now.
- Combat over.
-
- We take a moment to check the Atropal's room for secrets and Tobias finds some kind of secret door or wall on the north side of the circular room.
- Kakariki suggests resting off the Exhaustion and using Greater Restoration once on those who have two levels of Exhaustion, then we all sleep off the one level of Exhaustion. Kemurial has some Potions of Vitality and says he can just dismiss and resummon Heaven Mane to get rid of his Exhaustion, then rest up.
- We take Kemurial up on his offer. Friar Karl, Tobias and Blaze each drink a Potion of Vitality to lose their Exhaustion, and for 24 hours, they also regain max hit points from each Hit Die spent to regain hit points. In Foundry, Blaze's "Marked" icon means he has this effect for 24 hours.
- Kemurial uses his Archivist's Key to summon his mansion, and we all enter and rest.
- Kakariki makes an inspiring speech and gives the party some Temporary HP.
- Zhanis casts Heroes' Feast, giving us each 10 extra max HP.
- It hasn't yet been 24 hours since the last Mind Blank cast, so Kemurial, Tobias, Zhanis and Kakariki still have Mind Blank.
- We exit the mansion when we're ready. Tobias finds a stone that, when pressed, opens the secret door in this circular room.
- Kakariki Readies an attack while Kemurial opens the door.
- The secret door leads to a steep-sided ziggurat. Two creatures stand atop it. One is a large six-armed creature. A smaller creature stands behind it. The smaller creature says "You finally returned. You're too late. The master has already begun his work. So here you are, and here I am. What next?" Kakariki lets fly the stone he had prepared in his sling. INITIATIVE!!!
-
Round 1
- Kakariki's prepared attack hits.
- Vampire Umbral Lord - Casts 5th Level Hunger of Hadar in the circular room. We're all blinded while inside and will take some damage. It's also difficult terrain. Uses Sanguine Drain on Blaze. Blaze fails his save, taking 18 Necrotic damage, and his Hit Point maximum is reduced by the same amount. No bueno.
- Cultist Hierophant - Unsure, can't see.
- Friar Karl - Takes some damage because he started his turn in the Hunger of Hadar. Casts Beacon of Hope on us all. Moves west out of the Hunger of Hadar, no longer Blinded.
- Tobias Prince - Takes damage from Hunger of Hadar. Manifests Smoke Screen inside the enemy's room. He takes 3 Strain for failing to maintain his composure or whatever when manifesting that spell.
- Marilith - Teleports to just in front of Kakariki. Multiattack on Kakariki. It starts with Constrict, and Kakariki fails his Strength save. Tobias uses his Reaction to manifest Bolster Ego to give Kakariki Advantage, and Kakariki successfully saves! Thanks Tobias! It then makes SIX Pact Blade attacks. The first would've hit Kakariki, but Kakariki casts Shield. Its next two attacks also miss, so it turns its attention to Zhanis. Likewise, its first attack would've hit her, but she Shields as well. It then turns its attention to Kemurial. Same thing. Shield. Last attack is at Blaze, which hits.
- Kakariki - Steps out of the Hunger of Hadar, casts Haste, Bonus Action to use Magic Stones, Hasted Action to fire his sling, which hits the Marilith. Wrath of the Pack, Blaze's attack hits, knocking him Prone. Blaze uses his own Action to attack, hitting again, allowing Kakariki to use Hellish Wound to apply some damage over time. Blaze makes his save at the end of his turn from Hunger of Hadar.
- Kemurial - Attacks the Marilith with his Vicious weapon, and hits, but it Parries. Kemurial moves to Heaven Mane and casts Dimension door on himself and his wolf, teleporting out of the Hunger of Hadar.
- Cultist Fanatic - Unsure, can't see.
- Zhanis - Bonus Action to drink Potion of Speed. Action to cast 6th Level Spirit Guardians.
- Cultist Fanatic - Unsure, can't see.
-
Round 2
- Vampire Umbral Lord - Bonus Action Sanguine Drain on Blaze, who fails his save. Multiattack on him as well. Two Sickening Rays hit Blaze, which would've applied the Poisoned condition, but he's immune to that, so he just takes the Necrotic damage. Then she moves away.
- Cultist Hierophant - Casts 7th Level Jallarzi's Storm of Radiance over Heaven Mane, Kemurial, Tobias and Friar Karl. Kemurial and Tobias fail their saves. It does tons of damage and causes everyone inside to be Blinded and Deafened, and they can't cast spells with a Verbal component. Friar Karl loses Concentration on Beacon of Hope. No bueno.
- Friar Karl - Casts 3rd Level Spike Growth in the western hallway. He rolls the minimum amount of 2 whole damage, which is somehow enough to cause the Hierophant to lose Concentration on its Jallarzi's Storm of Radiance. Awesome!
- Tobias Prince - Manifests 3rd Order Telekinetic Burst at a Cultist Fanatic and Hierophant, but takes some Strain due to a low roll to save from the Strain. Bonus Action to Psionic Shift one of the enemies, who fails its save, taking a bit more damage. Nice.
- Marilith - Takes some damage from Hellish Wound and Hunger of Hadar at the start of its turn, then stands up using half its movement. It takes full damage from Zhanis's Spirit Guardians. It then makes SIX attacks. Three of them at Blaze, all of which hit and are enough to kill Blaze. RIP. Moves down and attacks Kakariki with Constrict, which would hit, but Kakariki uses a Reaction to cast Shield. The other attacks at Kakariki miss.
- Kakariki - Takes a couple point-blank shots at the Marilith and kills it! Then Kakariki moves through the Hunger of Hadar to move to the western hallway. He moves his full Hasted movement to get to the hallway where he can hear fighting and sees three enemies. He fires another point-blank shot at the nearest enemy and hits, doing a little damage to them. Vampire Umbral Lord uses Legendary Action to try to Command Zhanis, but she's Mind Blanked, so can't be Commanded!
- Kemurial - Casts Toll the Dead on the same Cultist Fanatic that Kakariki just attacked, who fails their save and kills it! Has Heaven Mane move up and use its Action to Dodge. Legendary Action to use Umbral Strike on Blaze, which hits. He's got no successes, and one failed so far.
- Cultist Fanatic - Attacks Kakariki with its Spiritual Weapon, missing. Cast Hold Person on Kakariki, who makes his save. Legendary Action to attack Blaze, which misses.
- Zhanis - Start of turn, she takes some Cold damage from Hunger of Hadar, Hasted Action to Dash north out of the Hunger of Hadar, catching the Vampire in her Spirit Guardians. The vampire makes her save, taking some damage and failing her Concentration on Hunger of Hadar, but she uses a Legendary Resistance to succeed on her Concentration. Boo! Zhanis uses Booming Blade with the Radiant War Pick to attack the Vampire Lord and hits, doing maximum damage! She uses her Illusionist Bracers to cast it again, and hitting again! Last Legendary Action this round to do a Grave Strike against Zhanis, missing.
- Wraith - Pops out of the wall and attacks Kakariki with Life Drain, missing. Moves back into the wall again, out of sight.
-
Round 3
- Vampire Umbral Lord - Attempts to Overrun Zhanis to get past her, and does, but just barely. Multiattacks on Zhanis, missing both times. She then moves into the center of the circular room, with all of us in sight.
- Cultist Hierophant - Three Radiant Rays at Kakariki, all of which miss. Legendary Action to fire at Blaze, missing.
- Friar Karl - 2x Orison on Kakariki and Tobias. Legendary Action to fire at Heaven Mane, and CRITs. Oh boy. Lots of damage, but immune to the Poisoned Condition.
- Tobias Prince - Bonus Action to manifest 3rd Order Amplify on Kakariki. The next time Kakariki makes a weapon attack, that attack deals an extra 2d8 Psychic damage. Nice. He then manifests a 5th Order Fracture, but misses his Strain DC by just one, so has to take FIVE Strain. Oof. The two enemies in the northern hallway both fail their saves, which kills one of them and the other is still up, but they have several debuffs in addition to the damage they took. Legendary Action to fire at Heaven Mane, hitting and killing Heaven Mane. RIP. This lady hates dogs apparently.
- Kakariki - Move into the Hunger of Hadar, taking 5 damage and maintaining Concentration on Haste. Three attacks at the Vampire Umbral Lord. First attack hits for tons of damage. She would've lost her Concentration, but chooses to succeed instead with a Legendary Resistance. That's two such resistances down! Second attack also hits for a decent amount of damage, and she maintains her Concentration. Hasted Action to make a third attack at her, hitting for a little bit of damage, and she maintains successfully again. Moves back out of the Hunger of Hadar and south out of her line of sight. Blaze dies after taking damage from Hunger of Hadar as that's his third failed Death Save.
- Kemurial - Casts Lightning Bolt toward the Vampire Umbral Lord, who makes her save, but it kills her anyway! Now that the Hunger of Hadar is gone thanks to the Vampire's death, he moves eastward toward Zhanis, says something to her, then Dashes back into the western corridor.
- Zhanis - Moves back toward the western corridor and rejoins the party, then casts Toll the Dead on the Cultist Hierophant, who fails the save, taking full damage. She finishes them off with Spirit Guardians.
- Combat over.
-
- Kakariki immediately moves up to Blaze to resurrect him, which will take 1 minute and cause one level of Exhaustion for Kakariki, but that's fine. Tobias uses Psychic Boost and Crystals of Rejuvenation to remove some Strain.
- We look for loot. The Vampire Lord had a Hydra Charm on her. Kemurial takes that.
- We contemplate taking a Short Rest, but decide against it thanks to the Wraith. Instead we head northward into the room with the ziggurat.
- Tobias uses Psionic Toughness on himself and Blaze, granting them 22 extra max HP, Advantage on Death Saving Throws, immunity to diseases, poison damage and the Poisoned condition, 10 extra feet of movement, and some extra damage once per turn. That's a LOT for something that lasts an hour and can be used five times a day!
- Tobias then casts Paragon on Blaze, making ALL of his ability scores 20 for EIGHT HOURS! Crazy stuff!
- Tobias casts Precognition on Kemurial and Kakariki as well. That also lasts 8 hours!
- Kemurial moves northward into the ziggurat room. At the top of it, he sees that the necklace we now have was kept here. To the left is a small alcove going 10' to a dead end. The blood on the floor makes it look like sacrifices were made in service of the necklace or something like that. We're unsure at this point.
- The walls increase in height in tiers. The whole place reeks of what we assume is liquified flesh in the cracks. It has been cleaned before, but things remain.
- The dead end contains a regularly used hidden doorway. Kemurial checks it out. Kemurial says it appears to simply loop around into the room just west of it. There's a large bronze sarcophagus on the northern wall with ornate monument pillars decorated with skulls and bones of the dead.
- Blaze being the world's strongest hellhound with immense amounts of strength, working with Kemurial, pushes the lid off the sarcophagus. They're successful, revealing a swarm of hands that immediately emerge from within. INITIATIVE!!!
-
Round 1
- Tobias - Incinerate on the sarcophagus doing some damage to the hands.
- Swarm of Crawling Hands - Attacks Blaze and misses, then moved past him.
- Kemurial - Attacks the hand swarm with his scimitar with Sacred Weapon and Booming Blade on it, hitting. Bonus Action Divine Smite, which kills it! Just then, something else starts rising out of the sarcophagus.
- Friar Karl - 2x Orison on Kakariki and Tobias, then steps behind a pillar.
- Magebreaker - Casts Fear on all but Blaze. We're all immune to Frightened, but might still drop what we're holding as we're startled, but we all save so we all hold onto our stuff. Steps away from the fire.
- Kakariki - First attack hits, Wrath of the Pack, Blaze hits, knocking him Prone, Thrash, the Magebreaker fails the save, second attack hits, Blaze's own attack CRITs, killing the Magebreaker.
- Combat over.
-
- The Magebreaker had a Weapon of Verdict. In the sarcophagus was some Beads of Meditation.
That's it for this session!
