Private Notes
- After arriving in Praag, we've heard various things that we could assist with. We've decided to travel into the cavernous depths of Old Praag to reignite the ancient defenses that once shielded the city in ages past. The defenses, or their power source, is known as the Rune-Heart.
- We meet with Maximillian Schreiber. He explains that no one from the city has ventured down into parts of the Praag undercity in many years. Some of the undercity areas have become dangerous in recent times. Most people that have opened the seals to these parts of the city have not returned. Our objective is to find the Rune-Heart, which sends its energy through ley lines in the city, and repair it and find out why its energy output isn't up to what it should be.
- Rory unattunes from his Necklace of Adaptation and attunes to his Ring of Protection in its place.
- We have been given status as sort of champions of Praag to assist in their resistance against the Chaos forces.
- Max is joining us on the trip, at least to escort us to the entrance of where we need to go.
- Max shows us to a small building that has guards outside. Inside is a simple room with seats and lanterns with more guards. There's a short staircase going down that is also guarded. There are double-doors locked and chained. Max nods and they unlock the doors to allow us access. Beyond is a stone staircase leading down into the darkness. Max says "As soon as you clear the area, I'll begin tracing the ley lines. I won't be following you from here, but I'll remain here near the entrance."
- We ask Max if he can enchant us temporarily like he did before. He can give us one cast of a 2nd Level or lower on the Abjuration list. Rory and Kemurial choose Shield. Lim Dul chooses Prayer of Healing. Nice.
- We continue down the stairs. It's unnaturally dark down here. Friar Karl enters with his torch, but the room doesn't get any brighter than dim light. Kemurial casts Light on his sword, but even it only sheds dim light. Odd.
- We move further into the darkness. As we come into the first room, we notice a swirling in the shadows. There's a shadow creature that doesn't seem to know that we see it or something. It's not attacking us. Kemurial points it out. The moment he does so, the Shadow Demon lashes out. INITIATIVE!!!

Round 1
- Shadow Demon - Another swirling mass of shadow appears right in front of Rory and attacks him, hitting, doing Psychic damage. As a bonus action, it attempts to hide again, and goes invisible at least for Rory.
- Rory - Rage, Reckless. Brutal Strike on the one Rory can see, hitting it and using the Hamstring Blow to reduce its speed by 15'. The second attack CRITS. None of the Necrotic damage goes through on these shadow demons, and only half of the slashing damage takes effect.
- Lim Dul - Uses Shadow Shroud for extra AC, then moves up to the one shadow creature he can see and attacks. The first attack hits, knocking it prone thanks to Topple! The second attack also hits.
- Freya - Unleashes three Eldritch Blasts at the prone shadow demon, hitting all three times.
- Shadow Demon - Appears next to Kemurial, attacking from stealth. It would've crit, but Kemurial has Adamantine armor, so no crits for you! Bonus action to try to hide again. Nobody but Kemurial can see it at this time.
- Friar Karl - 2x Orison on Kemurial and Rory.
- Kemurial - Casts Divine Favor as a bonus action, then attacks the hidden shadow demon, hitting it and doing some nice damage, especially since it appears these shadows are vulnerable to Radiant damage! He then attacks with his Vicious Foresight Scimitar, doing some great damage and uses Strike of the Giants to attempt to knock it prone. The shadow demon fails its save, and is now prone. Good one! Then he attacks again with Deadly Grace, pumping it with Sacred Weapon, and CRITS! This does massive damage considering much of it is Radiant damage, killing it. Its body dissolves.

Round 2
- Combat over.

- The darkness subsides, revealing doors.
- Max enters behind us and begins carving runes on the floor near the entrance stairs.
- All the doors in this room are locked. Lim Dul uses his Obviator's Lenses to help him inspect the doors for traps. The northern doors don't appear to be trapped according to Lim Dul. Freya moves up to the doors to attempt to unlock them. She was able to unlock the left, but not the right. Interesting for being double doors. Or at least appearing to be.
- Opening the door reveals a set of stairs leading up a little bit into a T-shaped hallway with another set of doors ahead.
- Kemurial and Lim Dul lead the way. As they go up the stairs, they hear sounds of movement of what sounds like dogs patting around, hearing breathing coming from down the hall in either direction. Lim Dul peeks around the corner. As he does, the breathing sounds got a little louder, and some creatures pop out to look. They're gnolls, and they howl, presumably for assistance. INITIATIVE!!!

Round 1
- Freya - Uses a Scroll of Web on the little bit of the hallway she can see, just beyond where Lim Dul and Kemurial are.
- Gnoll Fang of Yeenoghu - Can't see this enemy to know what it did.
- Friar Karl - Moves up and casts Orison on Lim Dul and Kemurial, then moves back again.
- Rory - DM allows Rory to have kept up his Rage via Bonus Actions since it has only been a couple minutes since the previous combat. Moves up and enters the Webbed area, makes his save, casts Mirror Image, and uses Second Wind just because.
- Kemurial - Moves up a bit and uses Lightning Lure on a gnoll. It fails its save, so Kemurial pulls it into the web.
- Gnoll Warriors - One moves away from Rory and attacks with a bow, missing. Another does the same thing, misses. Another moves out and takes a shot at Lim Dul, missing.
- Lim Dul - Attacks with his lance around a corner, giving the gnoll half cover. It would've hit had it not been around that corner. D'oh!
- Gnoll Warriors - Moves out and attacks Rory with its bow. Another moves out and fires at Kemurial, missing as well. One in melee range with Rory misses him.

Round 2
- Freya - Moves up and attacks with three Eldritch Blasts at a nearby gnoll she can see, hitting with all three. She then steps back a bit.
- Gnoll Fang of Yeenoghu - Jumps into range with Rory, Lim Dul and Kemurial, standing within the web. It attacks Rory, hitting.
- Friar Karl - Orison on Kemurial and Rory.
- Rory - Brutal Strike on the Yeenoghu guy, hits, damages it. Second attack kills it. Takes Bonus Action attack on the other gnoll in melee, killing it. Moves out of web to the east.
- Kemurial - Lightning Lure, pulling it toward him, and killing it. Nice!
- Gnoll Warriors - One fires at range, missing, then moving around the corner. Another moves forward and attacks Rory, missing. Another attacks Rory with a Rend attack, hitting a Mirror Image. Two left.
- Lim Dul - Freya drops Web, allowing Lim Dul and others freedom of movement. Moves up to the nearest gnoll, attacks, hitting it, and Toppling it. Second attack CRITS, killing it.
- Gnoll Warrior - Attacks Rory, missing.

Round 3
- At the beginning of the turn, doors open and more gnolls come running to assist.
- Freya - FIREBALL into the room at the top of the stairs that just opened. Massive amount of damage on the tons of enemies it hits! Bonus Action to convert Sorcery Points into 3rd Level spell slot, then moves back a bit.
- Venomous Gnoll - Attacks Kemurial at range with Spine Spike. It would hit, but Kemurial casts Shield, so it misses. Then moves a bit and attacks Rory with the same thing, hitting a Mirror Image.
- Friar Karl - Orison on Freya and himself.
- Rory - Kills remaining gnolls outside the room, then moves up to the room's doors and kills one of the Venomous Gnolls in the doorway.
- Kemurial - Moves just behind Rory and casts Fireball?! AT 5TH LEVEL?!?! BUT IT'S LIGHTNING?! Where has this been all along! Massive damage to tons of enemies on the east side of this room. Nice! Most of them die in the inferno.
- Gnoll Warrior - Takes shot at Rory, but misses.
- Gnoll Demoniac - Casts Hunger of Yeenoghu centered near the doors. It kills some of his friendlies, but the rest of everyone makes their saves for half damage. It leaves behind an area of darkness, leaving those inside blinded, and it acts as Difficult Terrain. When starting your turn inside the darkness, you continue to take damage.
- Venomous Gnoll - Starts turn in darkness and dies.
- Gnoll Warriors - Fires arrow at Rory, missing. Another does the same, hitting Rory. One other does the same thing, missing.
- Lim Dul - Takes damage from the darkness, then moves out of it.

Round 4
- Freya - Moves forward and casts Dispel Magic on the darkness. Nice one, Freya! She then converts a Pact Magic slot.
- Gnoll Pack Lord - Moves a short distance, then multiattacks Rory, hitting the last remaining Mirror Image, then moves back a bit.
- Friar Karl - Moves up to the top of the stairs and targets the Gnoll Demoniac with a Guiding Bolt, but misses.
- Rory - Moves up to the Gnoll Demoniac, attacks Recklessly, hitting and doing extra damage thanks to Charger, then takes a Brutal Strike attack, hitting and hamstringing him as well as pumping Blinding Smite for extra Radiant damage and blinding him.
- Kemurial - Moves into the room and behind a wall.
- Gnoll Warrior - Takes a shot at Friar Karl, missing.
- Gnoll Demoniac - Two Abyssal Strike attacks at Rory, hitting once. He fails his save for blindness, so he's still blind.
- Gnoll Warriors - One attacks Kemurial, missing. Another attacks Rory at range, missing. Another attacks Rory at range, missing.
- Lim Dul - Jumps and moves into the room, attacking a gnoll, hitting it and killing it.

Round 5
- Freya - Three Eldritch Blasts at the blinded Gnoll Demoniac, hitting three times.
- Gnoll Pack Lord - Chucks a Bone Javelin at Lim Dul, which would hit, but he uses Shield to prevent it. The gnoll then moves back.
- Friar Karl - Orisons on Rory and Kemurial.
- Rory - Brutal Strike hits, then CRITS again with regular attack, killing it. This procs the Mystic Title Power, healing Lim Dul for 32 HP! Moves toward another nearby gnoll, CRITTING AGAIN, killing it, then moves 20' thanks to Remarkable Athlete without provoking, allowing him to reach the Gnoll Pack Lord.
- Kemurial - Attacks with Deadly Grace, killing a gnoll, then moves up to the Pack Lord and hits him as well, doing some good damage to it.
- Gnoll Warrior - Misses Friar Karl with a ranged attack.
- Lim Dul - Jumps 30' to get within melee of the Pack Lord, attacks and hits for some good damage, and the Pack Lord fails the Topple save, falling prone. Lim Dul attacks a second time, hitting for more damage. Nice!

Round 6
- Combat over.

- We start looking for loot and whatnot in these rooms and find some stuff.
- Rory lets the party know he could use a short rest, and the group agrees. Lim Dul uses his Praryer of Healing that Max gave him. At the end of his casting, Friar Karl uses Beacon of Hope for a bit of extra healing. Just before we start to rest, Freya converts some Sorcery Points. During the rest, she uses Sorcerous Restoration to restore Sorcery Points.
- TSRGBU.
- Rory checks out the bunk rooms on the other side of the hallway and finds a bit more cash.
- Rory continues west through the corridors. He comes across more doors at the start of this hallway, and metal thudding stone at the opposite end. As Rory continues further down the hallway toward that sound, the sound gets louder. This hallway resembles a crypt with skeletons lying within the bunks along the walls. Suddenly a metallic bull pops out from around the corner. INITIATIVE!!!

Round 1
- Gorgon - Charges at Rory, but misses thanks to Lim Dul's Enforcement Title Power.
- Freya - Casts Faerie Fire on the Gorgon, and it fails its save along with a Gnoll Warrior that hasn't come around the corner yet. Freya then steps back out of line of sight.
- Friar Karl - Steps forward and casts Orison on Kemurial and Freya before stepping back again.
- Gnoll Warrior - Fires at ranged, but misses. Again.
- Rory - Rage, Reckless. Brutal Strike against the Gorgon, CRITTING, doing some good damage and use the Hamstring Blow feature, reducing its speed by 15'. Second attack hits as well.
- Lim Dul - Attacks with his lance, hitting once and missing the second attack. Still decent damage.
- Kemurial - Moves up to within melee range, then attacks with Deadly Grace, hitting the bull. Then attacks again with Vicious Foresight Scimitar, hitting it again, KILLING IT. Wow!

Round 2
- Freya - Moves up. Readies an action.
- Friar Karl - Orison on Kemurial and Rory.
- Gnoll Warrior - Pops out from around the corner, triggering Freya's readied action. She blasts three Eldritch Blasts, all of which hit. It fires at Rory, finally hitting something! Rory gives him a sarcastic thumbs up.
- Rory - Moves up toward the Gnoll Warrior and tells the party there's lots more to deal with. One swing and it kills the gnoll. Rory moves forward just a bit more and throws his Javelin of Lightning at a skaven slave, killing it and everything the lightning hit in between. Nice.
- Lim Dul - Moves up and attacks a skaven slave, killing it.
- Slave - Slingshots Rory then retreats.
- Globadier - Moves out from around the corner and throws something between Rory and Lim Dul. This globe shatters, hitting both Lim Dul and Rory, doing a bit of Poison damage as we make our saves, but it leaves the area heavily obscured, effectively blinding us.
- Kemurial - Moves forward.
- Slave - Fires slingshot at Lim Dul, missing. Moves away.
- Clanrat - Moves forward.
- Slaves - Two of them fire their sling at Lim Dull, missing.

Round 3
- Clanrats - Move forward.
- Freya - Moves forward.
- Slave - Fires sling, misses.
- Friar Karl - Moves forward and casts Orison on Freya and Kemurial.
- Clanrat - Moves forward.
- Rory - Takes some damage from the poison cloud, moves forward as far as possible and uses his Breath Weapon in a 30' line, hitting five enemies and killing four of those.
- Lim Dul - Takes some poison damage, then moves forward out of it and jumps into melee with the Clanrats. He attacks with his Lance, killing one. He attacks again, but barely misses a dodging Clanrat.
- Globadier - Moves around the corner, throwing another poison vial. It explodes again, catching Lim Dul, Rory and one of his own in the cloud. We both make the save, and are blinded again.
- Kemurial - Not much he can do. Readies an action to attack enemies that come within his range.
- Rory and Lim Dul hear metal on stone again, but it sounds different than the Gorgon did.
- Slaves - Slings, but miss.

Round 4
- Clanrats - Swings at Lim Dul, but miss.
- Freya - Readies an action.
- Friar Karl - Moves up.
- Rory - Takes poison damage, moves out of it, three attacks and three different enemies, killing all three. Rory tells the party he can't see the globe guy anymore, unsure where he went.
- Lim Dul - Takes poison damage, jumps forward out of the poison cloud, and attacks and kills two slaves.
- Kemurial - Poison cloud dissipates in front of him. Moves up and attacks the last remaining Clanrat, killing it.
- Combat over.

- We search the bodies and cells (if we can enter them), along with the rest of the area.
- Rory finds a small pouch on a bed with more stuff in it.
- Rory then finds a chest nearby, which is trapped. Freya is able to disarm it. We open it and find some more stuff.
- Rory tells Lim Dul there's another chest that he can investigate if he wants. He does so, and it's trapped. Freya again attempts to disarm it, and does so successfully. She opens it. More stuff inside.
- Rory checks the metal grate in the floor at the far end of the corridor, but is unable to determine anything more than that it's just a grate. Is this where the Globadier went? Who knows.
- Rory then checks another chest. Not trapped. Inside is yet more stuff.
- We find more stuff around the area.
- Rory checks the cells. They're all locked, and we haven't found any keys yet. Maybe we should check the desk that Lim Dul is near.
