After collecting the loot from last session, we continue to look for keys that will open these cells, but there seems to be nothing else to discover here. We'll move on.

Rory checks the sarcophagi in the area. He's easily able to open the first one he checks. When he does so, it spouts a poisonous fog cloud that catches him in it, so he takes some poison damage, but not all of it. He looks inside, and whaddya know. There's an undead creature inside. INITIATIVE!!!

Round 1
- Freya - Transmutes an Acid Splash into a Fire Splash and hits the mummy, doing some damage. Turns out they're vulnerable to fire. Nice!
- Kemurial - Uses a Bonus Action for Divine Favor, then approaches the mummy and attacks with his scimitar, uses Booming Blade and transmutes it to Lightning damage, doing some good damage to the mummy. He also uses Hill Strike. The mummy makes its save, so does not fall prone.
- Friar Karl - Moves up and attacks the mummy with his warhammer, doing enough damage to kill it. Rory triggers his Medium ability to heal Lim Dul for 12 HP.

Rory checks the sarcophagus for anything of note, while holding his breath in case another poof of nasty comes billowing out. He finds some gold and a spell scroll.

Rory checks another sarcophagus while holding his breath. He's able to move the lid aside, and as expected, another poison cloud erupts from it. He's still affected by it even though he's holding his breath. Also coming out of it is a little flaming skull. INITIATIVE!!!

- Kemurial - Uses a quickened Lightning Lure on the skull. It fails the save. Kemurial pulls it toward him, doing some Lightning damage to it. He then does his normal attack as an Action, CRITTING the skull! He adds Booming Blade to it for a bit of extra sauce. He also adds Hill Strike. No need cuz this thing's super dead.

Friar Karl sprinkles holy water on the skull. He says they have a tendency to regen otherwise.

We check out the other sarcophagi and Freya offers to try to disable the poison cloud traps. In this case, it was the player, not Rory, that just assumed they were old and dusty rather than trapped. She's able to disable the traps successfully. Kemurial opens the first coffin, and out pops an undead creature. Whodathunkit? INITIATIVE!!!

- Rory - Does NOT Rage this turn. Reckless Brutal Strike hits, and then a normal attack with Blinding Smite. Some good damage, but not enough to take it out. It's blinded though.
- Freya - Three Scorching Rays at the Revenant, all of which hit. Nice. Bonus Action to create a 2nd Level spell slot using Sorcery Points.
- Revenant - Some of its wounds begin to seal up. It attacks Rory, hitting once. It makes its save for the Blinded condition, ending it.
- Friar Karl - Casts Orison on Lim Dul and Kemurial.
- Kemurial - Casts True Strike, then attacks with his scimitar, hitting the Revenant for some great damage.
- Lim Dul - Moves up and attacks the Revenant, hitting it and killing it. Nice. This triggers Rory's Medium ability, healing Lim Dul for 5 HP.

We check the sarcophagus, and find more gold and a Saddle of the Cavalier.

Rory asks Friar Karl about sprinkling holy water on the Revenant. He says he's unsure about these specifically, but it can't hurt. So he does so.

We check the last sarcophagus. Lim Dul opens it. Rory uses Second Wind to heal a bit. Out pops a Ghast Gravecaller. INITIATIVE!!!

- Friar Karl - Guiding Bolt on the Ghast Gravecaller, hitting it.
- Rory - Rages and moves up, but withholds his attack to save the advantage from Guiding Bolt for someone else. He readies his attack until the Guiding Bolt is consumed.
- Freya - Eldritch Blasts, hitting all three times. This triggers Rory's Readied action, which he takes, hitting twice.
- Lim Dul - Attacks and kills the creature.

We check the sarcophagus and find 100g, a Scroll of Blur, and a Potion of Resistance to Poison.

Rory asks Friar Karl if this creature needs holy water sprinkled on it. He doesn't think so.

We continue south, checking the doors for traps and unlocking them if necessary. Freya says it's unlocked. Lim Dul pushes them open.

Inside, we find a couple short staircases, shelves and six more doors. We see what we can see around the room, but don't find anything of note.

Lim Dul checks the eastern set of double doors. Freya picks the locks. We push through.

Lim Dul leads the way. As he moves into the hallway, he notices in this hallway that scattered all down it and all over are things that are carved into the stone. It looks like someone took a lightsaber through and swiped the walls all over. Lim Dul says he believes the hall is trapped.

Lim Dul checks the first door, and it's locked, of course. Kemurial checks it for traps, but finds none. Lim Dul opens it after Freya unlocks it. Inside are two identical creatures. As he steps in, they stop feasting on their bones and turn and growl at him. Lim Dul knows these are fiendish demonic creatures called Hezrou. He knows they're immune to poison. INITIATIVE!!!

- Friar Karl - Orison on Rory and Kemurial.
- Hezrou - Leaps toward Lim Dul, attacking three times, missing all attacks.
- Rory - Moves up and attacks the first stinky guy. Rory makes his save on the stench. The first attack hits, doing some good damage. The second attack also hits, and since it's a Brutal Strike, Rory chooses to push the creature 15 feet away from the group.
- Hezrou - Moves up to and attacks Rory three times, hitting twice.
- Freya - Moves up and Eldritch Blasts the first Hezrou, hitting twice. Spends Sorcery Points to quicken a Scorching Ray on the same one, hitting three times, but she notices that they are resistant to Fire damage.
- Kemurial - Drinks a Potion of Speed for Haste, moves up to the first stinky boy, makes his save on the stink, then proceeds to unleash a number of attacks. True Strike, scimitar attack, hits for a ton of Radiant damage, attacks again as his Hasted attack, hitting it again, for some more damage. Nice!
- Lim Dul - Moves up next to the second stinky boy, makes his save, then unleashes attacks on the first stinky boy. First one hits for some good damage. He doesn't get knocked prone, but it still hits, killing it. This triggers Rory's Medium, healing Lim Dul for 32 HP.

- Friar Karl - Orison on Lim Dul and Rory.
- Rory - Fails stink save, Poisoned, then makes attacks at the remaining Hezrou. First attack misses, but the second one CRITS, doing lots of damage and Rory pumps a Blinding Smite for major extra damage, and blinding it.
- Hezrou - Three attacks at Rory, all of which miss. It makes its blind save.
- Freya - Three Eldritch Blasts, hitting twice.
- Kemurial - Moves up to the other Hezrou, attacks with scimitar, hitting it, for yet more good damage. Hasted attack, hits. The Hezrou is hurting. Bonus Action for Divine Smite.
- Lim Dul - Makes save on the stench, attacks and CRITS, doing some really good damage, killing it!

We search the room. We don't find anything immediately, but there are four ornately-carved stone chests. Kemurial checks them for traps, but find none. Freya unlocks them. We open them up and find some really good stuff.

After looting the room, Rory suggests taking a Short Rest as he's at half health and could use more Rage uses. The party agrees.

We continue. Kemurial goes out the door we came in through and trips a trap. He fails his save as a huge circular saw blade flies out of the wall and catches him doing some massive damage. Ouch!

Freya is unable to unlock the door, so we move out of the door we came in through.

Freya IS able to unlock the door on the opposite side of the hallway from this door. Rory pushes it open and there's a room full of robed and hooded cultist figures. Many of them look like normal people, others have horns, and there is one particularly gross green figure at the back of the room. That figure says "Kill the intruders!" INITIATIVE!!!

Round 1
- Kemurial - Moves over and casts Fireball into the room, catching the majority of creatures inside in its blast radius. Nice!
- Cultist Fanatic - Tries to Command Rory, but he saves. It then casts Spiritual Weapon near Rory, and misses with it.
- Rory - Moves directly toward the Aberrant Cultist, hits twice, Action Surge, attacks it twice more, but when it would've hit, he made one of his Cultist Fanatics swap places with himself, redirecting the damage. Rory moves over and attacks, hitting, but it swaps places again with another Cultist Fanatic.
- Cultist Fanatics - One tries to cast Hold Person on Rory, but Rory makes his save. Another tries the same, and this time Rory fails. This drops Rory's Rage. Both of them cast Spiritual Weapon and attack a now Paralyzed and Incapacitated Rory. One of them hits.
- Freya - Moves up and casts Fireball with the Careful Spell Metamagic, making sure Rory is unaffected by the spell. She takes out all but one of each type of cultist. And all the Spiritual Weapons drop, either because they died or failed their Concentration check. This also drops the Hold Person on Rory. Nice!
- Aberrant Cultist - Attempts to use Mind Rot on Rory, but somehow Rory shakes it off. He still takes half the damage, but isn't poisoned.
- Lim Dul - Jumps into the room, moves up to near Rory and attacks the Aberrant Cultist, hitting it, but unable to Topple it. The second attack also hits, killing it. Awesome.
- Friar Karl - Moves into the room, casts Orison on Lim Dul and Rory.
- Cultist - Runs away out the other locked door in the room.

Round 2
- Kemurial - Moves into the room and up to the remaining Cultist Fanatic and unleashes an attack, CRITTING and doing massive damage to it, then uses Booming Blade for extra damage, then Bonus Action for Blinding Smite. This guy stands no chance with Kemurial in his face. With the damage maximized, he did like a bajillion damage. This Cultist Fanatic is more dead than anything has ever died before. Good riddance.

We look over the room for stuff as there are four more chests in this room like in the previous one.

Kemurial and Freya lead the way out the door and to the east, looking for traps along the way. Freya finds no less than SEVEN more traps!

Kemurial, clever as ever, flies over the pressure plates and eastward toward the doors at the end of the hall.

Lim Dul moves up to the next door on the south side of the hallway, checks for traps, finds none. Freya unlocks it. He peers in and decides to close it and go to the opposite door. Again, checks for traps, finds none, Freya unlocks it. Lim Dul opens the door. When he does, there's a well-lit room lit by candles. A creature sits on a bench with its back to him. Another creature approaches, saying "I'm sorry, but the master is not expecting guests at this time." Another voice on the bench says "It's okay, let them in." Lim Dul looks back at us, and invites us into the room. We enter. The creature on the bench stands up and looks at us all. This obvious vampire welcomes us and asks what brings us here. We reply with the Chaos war. He invites us to drink what appears to be wine. Rory declines. The vampire says perhaps he can interest us in a bargain. He can bestow four of us with an item of magical power, but in return, he'd like to sample our precious life force. Kemurial and Rory ask for details. He says he'll drink our blood, which would weaken us for a time, and he'll grant us a powerful magic item in return. Kemurial asks about the symptoms of the weakness, but he doesn't elaborate further. Lim Dul says he appreciates his generous offer, but we can't be weak during these times of Chaos war. Kemurial asks if we can see the item in advance. He says no. He can connect to the weave of magic in unpredictable but familiar ways. He doesn't choose, but rather just is the vessel by which they're brought into existence. Kemurial asks how long the weakness lasts. The vampire responds, saying it lasts until we finish a long rest. Kemurial tries to see if he's being deceitful, but detects no deceit. Kemurial asks what benefit this creature will get. He's a vampire spawn, and has much to gain as far as power is concerned by sampling as much blood as possible. His assistants provide some of that, but he needs variety. He assures us that there would be no lasting afflictions. This is good enough for Rory. Rory holds out his hand and says "Bite me." Rory's other hand is on the hilt of his greatsword in case things go south. Rory takes some piercing and necrotic damage. His max health is reduced by 18 and he gains one level of Exhaustion. The vampire begins making swirling motions with his hands, blood swirls in the air and he plucks something from within. In return, Rory receives an Ioun Stone of Protection. Kemurial hesitantly accepts the vampire spawn's offer. In return, he receives a Censer of Controlling Air Elementals. Freya also partakes in the biting, receiving a Staff of Charming. He thanks us for humoring his whims.

Rory says "By the way, what's your name? I should've asked you that before allowing you to suck me." He responds, saying his name is Lasus Duskheart.

He says he hopes each of us are satisfied with the bargain we made. He says this is a temporary home for him. Hopefully since we're satisfied, we can just go our separate ways. Rory asks what brought him here, and if he can tell us about what we can expect throughout the rest of the place. He says many of the rooms are taken up by some unpleasant fellows. The southern hallway is trapped multiple times. Two nasty ones in that hallway. Another metal bull down there. The doors across from him have animated armor and weapons that'll come alive when about 3/4 of the way inside. If we're afraid of bugs, he advises against going into the southeastern corner. If we go directly west, through two sets of double doors, we'll face the metal titan, which for all intents and purposes, is the protector of these halls. He hasn't explored elsewhere, so doesn't know more.

Kemurial asks about rooms with high ceilings. He says there are 15-20' ceilings in the room with the titan.

Lim Dul says he appreciates his congeniality, and that we have disarmed some traps in this hallway, and there are freshly-killed bodies in the rooms west of us. The vampire appreciates the direction. Lim Dul leaves the room.

Kemurial thanks him for the bargain, and gives him a side-eye as if he's hoping he won't regret this later. Lasus says "If all goes to plan, we should never see each other again." Kemurial says if he catches him hunting innocents, he'll come for him. Lasus responds saying something about not knowing what innocence is. Then he motions for us to leave.

Kemurial moves eastward toward the double doors and checks them out. Seems fine. Freya opens the door. It's the first room we were in, with the shadows. Max Schreiber is still there working on his glyphs. Rory greets him and tells him we have some things needing identified. Rory shows the magical Rapier and Scimitar from last session to Max. Rory apologizes for interrupting his work, but he's fine with it as it requires no concentration for whatever he's doing. He says the rapier is a Dancing Rapier (or any one-handed weapon) and the other is a Moon-Touched weapon.

We discuss whether we should take a long rest. Rory could use one since he's down to just one more Rage use, even though Lim Dul tries to guilt him into being "greedy" with the vampire. Rory reiterates that regardless of whether he made the deal with the vampire spawn, he'd still have needed the rest anyway. Lim Dul seems not to care much. We take our long rest.

When we wake up, we sell of loot and whatnot. While making our way back, Lim Dul says he's done with us, and he thinks we're purely doing this out of greed and storms off. Rory just says good riddance, and says don't let the door hit you on your way out. Rory clearly doesn't care as they never really got along anyway. And off he walks.

Very soon after, a deep gnome woman walks up carrying a couple of crossbows and says she couldn't help but notice that we seem to have an open spot and she's willing to lend a hand. She says her name is Calanthia Stonetrodden. Kemurial talks with Soren using his Sending Stone and asks him whether they've heard of this person. He says she's known to help in as many ways as she can, and he says she has their blessing if she'd like to join should she be willing to do so. Rory isn't super willing to immediately trust someone, so he tells her his name is "JimBog" as he introduces himself to her. He says he's willing to give her a shot, but she'll have to prove herself to the group. The rest agree.
