Private Notes
- The short rest goes by uneventfully.
- We decide to head to the room with the deep hole lined by white and gray vines. There is a pot in the room with a wooden creature that seems hostile. Its claws seem to match those of wounds received by citizens in the area. Someone named Durn was keeping them as a pet (I think?). Xaphan thinks it could free itself if it wanted to. Jafar wants to try to gain its favor by watering it.
- Jafar offers the wooden plant thing some water while Xaphan attempts to communicate with it in multiple languages, saying that it's no longer captive. It responds to Common by bobbing up and down a bit. Jafar gives it water, and bobs up and down in the same way. Syntax slowly reaches down and touches one of the vines lining the hole, but it doesn't seem to respond to his action. Jafar reaches into the pot to try to grab onto its roots hoping to lift it out of the pot. He pulls him out of the pot and takes it over the vines. Once it's over the vines, it attacks Jafar with its claws. Jafar takes damage but gently lets it go. It screeches a bit and slides down the vines into the dark hole.
- Syntax motions toward the vines, suggesting that we use them to climb down. Jafar says instead we should tie a rope to him and he'll fly down to scout ahead.
- Syntax realizes there's a slight updraft coming from the hole.
- With the rope well attached to Jafar, he flies down. Around 30' down, the hole opens up. Luminescent fungus shedding light exists there. Remains of cave animals line the floor. He sees a few skeletons walking around, robed, with pitchforks tending the area with wheelbarrows. They don't seem to respond to his presence. Jafar flies back up to relay this information to us. They're using soil and compost to tend to their fungal gardens. From the hole's opening to the floor, it's 80' down.
- Jafar offers to fly us each down, which Xaphan and Syntax happily accept.
- Down we each go, using the rope to descend and Jafar to assist us down further if needed. Jafar also uses another grappling hook and rope to aid our descent.
- We make our way down safely and see the three skeletons tending to their garden just as described. Xaphan attempts to be as stealthy as possible. Stepping on the ground is like stepping on wet leaves. The area down here is lit by violet fungus.
- Xaphan begins moving toward a tunnel to the north. As he does so, some things pop out from the undergrowth and make an attack on him. INITIATIVE!!!

Round 1
- Skeleton - Steps up to Jafar and attacks him with a shovel, hitting.
- Twig Blight - Flanks Jafar, but misses.
- Skeletons - Attacks Jafar with his shovel, CRITTING him for max damage! Ouch! Another attacks Xaphan, but misses.
- Syntax - Hex (Wisdom) on one of the skeletons, Toll the Dead.
- Xaphan - Swings longsword at the skeleton attacking him, missing. Healing Word at Jafar.
- Erky - Bless on the frontliners.
- Twig Blights - One attacks Xaphan, missing. Another one attacks Arthas, hitting.
- Arthas - Baleful Interdict the skelton next to him, attacks him, hitting with his flail, doing enough to take it out. Nice! Moves his seal to another target.
- Jafar - Moves south, taking an opportunity attack, which hits. Jafar then uses a Potion of Fire Breathing to breathe fire on two skeletons and two twig blights. Two save, two fail. Some good damage, even to the ones that saved! It was enough to kill three of the four! And somehow, a spark flies off and unintentionally catches a fifth target, taking it out. Convenient! Flies up to 20', out of the reach of these guys.
- Kailen - Moves up to attack the last remaining twig blight, but misses.

- Skeleton - Moves around Xaphan to attack Arthas, and hits.
- Syntax - Bonus Action to move Hex onto the remaining Twig Blight, then tries Eldritch Blast, but misses.
- Xaphan - Attacks the last skeleton with his longsword, hitting, and pumps a Diving Smite into it, killing it.
- Erky - Sacred Flame on the Twig Blight, but it saves.
- Twig Blight - Attacks Arthas, and hits.
- Arthas - Baleful Interdict on the Twig Blight, then makes a flanking attack with his flail, and hits, taking it out.
- Combat over. We each receive 41 xp.

- We try to search the room for loot. Before we really get to move, we start hearing steps from the north. INITIATIVE!!!

Round 1
- Bugbear Warrior - Unsure.
- Erky - Moves to the corner of the room and takes the Dodge action.
- Syntax - Moves south and Readies an Eldritch Blast in case a hostile action is taken on one of his friends.
- Giant Rat - Moves down and takes the Dodge action.
- Goblin Warrior - Fires an arrow at Jafar, missing. Doesn't trigger Syntax's Readied action because Syntax can't see this enemy.
- Xaphan - Toll the Dead on a Giant Rat and hits. Moves a bit.
- Kailen - Fires short bow at a Giant Rat, hits.
- Goblin Warrior - Fires an arrow at Syntax, hitting.
- Arthas - Hears someone say some names and tells them to attack us in Goblin speech. Moves back slightly and fires off a Chromatic Orb, but misses. Moves up a bit.
- Giant Rats - Unsure.
- Jafar - Fire Bolt at a Giant Rat, misses.

- We hear someone shout "Come face me if you dare, if you can get past my hounds Grip and Fang. Only then can you face Balsag!"
- Bugbear Warrior - Unsure.
- Erky - Dash northward.
- Giant Rats - Dodges.
- Syntax - Bonus Action to move Hex onto the giant rat on the right, Toll the Dead, it fails its save, and it kills it. Moves west 15'.
- Giant Rat - Moves away and probably Dodges.
- Xaphan - Healing Word on Syntax. Dashes behind a wheelbarrow and goes prone for cover.
- Kailen - Moves toward the northern corridor and fires short bow at one of the rats, and misses.
- Goblin Warrior - Shortbow at Xaphan, missing.
- Arthas - Readies a javelin throw at the next enemy to come through the opening.
- Giant Rats - Dodges.
- Jafar - Cure Wounds on Arthas.

- Bugbear Warrior - Unsure.
- Erky - Moves north.
- Syntax - Bonus Action to move Hex onto the giant rat he can see, choosing Dex this time, and fires two Sacred Flames at the rat. It saves both times. Come on! Drops prone.
- Giant Rat - Unsure.
- Goblin Warrior - Fires at Syntax, hitting, even while Prone. Good grief.
- Xaphan - Toll the Dead, hits and kills whatever he was aiming at.
- Kailen - Moves into the room and attacks the Giant Rat with her flail, killing it.
- Goblin Warrior - Short bow attack on Kailen, missing.
- Arthas - Moves up.
- Giant Rats - Hits Kailen with a bite.
- Jafar - Flies eastward and casts Fire Bolt at a giant rat, hitting it.

Round 4
- Bugbear Warrior - Hits Kailen with a Grab attack. Uses Abduct to move Kailen away.
- Erky - Dodge in the corner.
- Syntax - Moves Hex to the Giant Rat, it saves against Sacred Flame yet again. Boo. Crawls forward 5 feet.
- Goblin Warrior - Attack misses Kailen.
- Xaphan - Toll the Dead on the rat, it fails its save and dies.
- Kailen - Bonus Action to Second Wind, gets max healing. Nice. Uses Action to attempt to break the Grapple, and succeeds! No longer Grappled. Action Surge to attack the Bugbear Warrior with her flail, and hits. Uses Hill's Tumble to give the Bugbear the Prone condition.
- Goblin Warrior - Moves to flank Kailen, hits her with his scimitar. Nimble Escape to move away a bit.
- Arthas - Moves into the room, Dash to move further into the room to be in a better position to assist Kailen with the goblin and bugbear. Baleful Interdict on the bugbear.
- Jafar - Fire Bolt at the prone bugbear, hitting it. Arthas takes the opportunity to pop the seal he just placed on the bugbear for a bit of extra damage. Nice!

- Bugbear Warrior - Stands, attacks Kailen with flanking, hits and does a ton of damage to her.
- Erky - Dodge.
- Syntax - Stands, moves, Dashes, Bonus Action to move Hex (Wisdom), drop Prone again.
- Goblin Warrior - CRITS Kailen, knocking her unconscious. Uh oh! Moves away.
- Xaphan - Moves into the room using Dash.
- Kailen - First Death Save, NAT 20! Back up with one HP.
- Goblin Warrior - Moves away from Kailen and attacks Arthas, but misses.
- Arthas - Flails the Goblin Warrior next to him and hits. Final Baleful Interdict on the bugbear.
- Jafar - Moves into the corridor, Fire Bolt hits. Arthas pops the seal he just placed on him. Nearly dead!

- Bugbear Warrior - Moves away from Kailen, provoking. Kailen's flail takes him out!
- Erky - Dodges in the corner.
- Syntax - Stands up, moves, Dashes, Bonus Action to move Hex onto Goblin.
- Goblin Warrior - Moves from around the corner, attacks Arthas with scimitar, misses, Bonus Action Disengage.
- Xaphan - Moves in, Longsword attack on Goblin, hitting and killing it.
- Kailen - Stands, last Second Wind, moves up to the remaining goblin warrior and attacks with her flail, missing.
- Arthas - Moves up to the last goblin warrior and attacks with his flail, hitting.
- Jafar - Moves up, Fire Bolt at the goblin, hits.
- Combat over. We each receive 66 xp.

- The floor of this rough cavern is stained and smells terrible. There's a pallet of matted furs, some of which hangs on a slender pole. Hair, dry fungus and refuse abounds here. Nasty.
- We look around for loot and someone finds a hidden bag under one of the pelts. Inside is a light hammer and some gold.
- We decide to take a long rest and head toward the same room we've rested in before. On our way there, some of us step into a room where a dragon once was. INITIATIVE!!!

Round 1
- Kailen - Unsure.
- Jafar - Readies action in case the dragon gives chase.
- Arthas - Unsure.
- Calcryx - Gives chase apparently? I don't know, can't see them. Jafar's Readied action goes off, and hits the dragon. The dragon fires off a Cold Breath, taking out Erky.
- Xaphan - Heals Arthas and asks what he's seeing. Arthas tells him there's a dragon they thought was gone but is still there. Things aren't looking good.
- Syntax - Hexes the dragon, Eldritch Blast critically misses yet again, moves into the resting room. He's in no shape to be fighting this thing right now.

Round 2
- Kailen - Attacks Calcryx with her flail and hits, doing some good damage. Hill's Tumble to knock it Prone.
- Jafar - Death Save, one success!
- Arthas - Moves in, attacks with his flail, doing some more damage. It's near death!
- Calcryx - He recovers his Cold Breath, stands up, and uses that Cold Breath once again. Arthas and Kailen both fail their Constitution Save and take full damage from the breath attack. Arthas and Kailen both go unconscious. Oh boy.
- Xaphan - Longsword attack at the dragon, which misses.
- Syntax - Moves back into the storage room, can barely see the dragon, and fires off a Toll the Dead. It fails its save, but it only does 3 damage. It's still up! Not good.

Round 3
- Kailen - First Death Save, success! One success, no fails.
- Jafar - Second Death Save, success! Two successes, no fails.
- Arthas - First Death Save, fails. No successes, one fail.
- Calcryx - Attempts to Bite Xaphan, misses!
- Xaphan - Toll the Dead, but the dragon makes its save. GAH!
- Syntax - Toll the Dead, dragon fails its save, 9 damage is enough to kill Calcryx!
- Combat over. We each receive 90 xp.

- Xaphan runs up to Kailen and uses Lay on Hands on her. He then moves up to Arthas and provides healing to him as well. Jafar gets some healing as well. And because Xaphan thinks Syntax feels left out, Syntax also receives 2 points of healing.
- We continue on into the camping room without poor Erky Timbers. Rest in peace.
- Xaphan, Jafar and Syntax venture back out to the dragon real quick to see if there is any loot to be had. We find some mundane looking things, but also find a sealed scroll case made of bone with a dwarven inscription on it. The dwarven runes say "Khundrukar" on it. Inside it is a parchment that says "… the remaining few. By order of Durgeddin the Black, we have created a secret dwarven redoubt. None shall find us; however, …". Interesting.
- Arthas takes some time to chop off the dragon's head.
- We all move into the camp room yet again, this time hopefully to be able to rest finally!
- TNGBU.
- Arthas decides to honor Erky by renaming Hee Haw the donkey after him. Nice one, Arthas.
