Private Notes
- We've long rested and are ready to go back down the dark hole. Syntax casts Mage Armor before we descend. And we descend without issue, back down into the fungal farm.
- Jafar notices doors along a couple of the walls in this room. We check the southern door first. Kailen checks for traps, but finds none. The door doesn't seem to be locked either. Syntax ducks behind a wheelbarrow before they open the door.
- The door is opened, and inside is a long hallway before a sudden drop. There is a rift inside, with a number of 2' holes riddling the rift. A smell of burning is in the air.
- We leave this area for now and check the eastern door next. Kailen checks for traps and finds none. It's not locked either. She opens the door. Rows of marble columns line the hall, covered in luminescent fungus. There are tables with herbalism and harvesting tools. The doors in this room are all slightly ajar. From them emit audible snores. One of the rooms also has talking sounds coming from it. Sounds like goblins. Arthas can understand the language.
- Jafar tries to stealthily see what's in each room. The second room on the left has a couple goblins repairing armor. The bottom room contains a group of goblins surrounding a table with a giant diseased rat on it, pinned and strapped to the bench with tumors that look fruity, as if they're experimenting on it. Another room has a crack in the wall on the back. Another seems to have stacks of weapons.
- Syntax thinks we should exterminate the goblins and diseased rats.
- Arthas is willing to try speaking to them. He suggests that Jafar try to trap each of the doors as we make our way through them one-by-one. At least that's the hope. Nothing ever goes to plan, of course!
- We strategically make our way into the room. Jafar uses his Tinker's Magic to summon three hunting traps to trap the doors with. Syntax Readies an Eldritch Blast in case any enemies do anything hostile within his line of sight. Kailen suggests trapping doors other than the one with snoring coming from it so that we could attempt to ambush them or question them.
- In the end we decide, we decide to trap each room except the one with the goblins experimenting on the rat. We'll attempt to talk with them first. If things go wrong, then we'll be ready for it.
- Jafar traps the doors and tells Arthas to head inside the experiment room to begin his conversation. Arthas heads in and greets them in goblin language. They ask who he is, and he introduces himself. The goblins say "Kill them boys!" INITIATIVE!!!

Round 1
- Goblin Commoner - Comes out of the room and steps on one of the set traps, fails his save, taking some damage. He screeches. Readied actions go off. Jafar's Fire Bolt hits the goblin, killing it.
- Jafar - Moves up next to the trap and fires on a goblin in that same room, missing. Moves back to where he was.
- Goblin Commoners - Steps out of the room, moves toward Jafar and attacks him, missing. This triggers Syntax's Readied Eldritch Blast, which hits, killing it. Another steps out and misses Arthas. Another Dodges.
- Syntax - 2x Sacred Flames (using Spellfire Spark) on the goblin in front of Arthas, but only one goes through.
- Arthas - Tries to persuade them to surrender or else be killed. They respond saying that makes a lot of sense to them, and another calls them a coward. The goblin says "Do you ever think we dig hole so big hole dig us back?" Two of the goblins do surrender and run away. But the others stay. Their choice!
- Goblin Commoner - Runs out approaching Arthas, says "I don't know that guy!" and attacks him, missing. Another says "Me no fool!" and attacks with advantage thanks to flanking, and hits, but does zero damage thanks to its poor strength.
- Xaphan - Attacks nearest goblin with his longsword, missing.
- Goblin Commoners - Attacks Arthas, missing. Another Dodges. Another fires a shortbow at Arthas, missing critically, shooting a fellow goblin instead, killing them.
- Kailen - Attacks nearby goblin with her flail, smashing the goblin to pieces.

Round 2
- At the start of this turn, more goblins show up, probably the ones who were sleeping. Another tries to help him open the door, and it opens, causing the door to swing open hard enough to snap the rope tying two doors together. One steps out onto the trap, taking enough damage to kill it. Another moves out, steps on the trap, fails the save and takes a bit of damage, and he can't pry the door open, taking another bit of damage. Another goblin rushes past another and attacks Kailen, missing. Another goblin emerges and Dashes past Syntax who punches him for one damage.
- Jafar - Fire Bolt at a goblin, hits and kills it.
- Goblin Commoners - Already done as described above.
- Syntax - Eldritch Blast at goblin attacking Kailen, hitting and killing it.
- Arthas - Baleful Interdict, flail hits, pops seal, killing it.
- Goblin Warrior - Fires shortbow at Xaphan, hitting him even with half cover.
- Xaphan - Longsword attack hits and kills a goblin.
- Goblin Warrior - Moves out of the room and attacks Xaphan, hitting. Nimble Escape to Disengage back into the room.
- Kailen - Goes after the Disengaging goblin and meets another goblin at the door, hitting it with her flail, killing it.

- Goblin Warrior - Moves into the hallway, attacks Kailen, misses, then Nimble Escape Disengage back into the room.
- Goblin Commoner - Moves into hall, attacking Xaphan, missing. Nimble Escape back into the room.
- Jafar - Fire Bolt hits, killing a goblin.
- Syntax - Moves, Toll the Dead at Goblin Warrior, but it saves. Moves back.
- Arthas - Moves out of the room he's been in, sees nothing, and Readies an action to attack a hostile.
- Goblin Warrior - Shortbow at Xaphan, misses. Backs away.
- Xaphan - Toll the Dead at a goblin warrior who fails the save, taking some good damage. Moves in front of Syntax. Bonus Action Lay on Hands on himself to heal.
- Goblin Warrior - Half-cover shot at Kailen, missing.
- Kailen - Moves into the room, attacks with flail, misses.

- Goblin Warrior - Flanks Kailen, attacks, misses.
- Goblin Commoner - Club attack at Kailen, misses.
- Jafar - Moves into the hallway toward us, attacks with FIre Bolt and hits.
- Syntax - Moves into doorway, attacks with Eldritch Blast, hits and kills it. Moves back.
- Arthas - Moves around the columns and into the room with the remaining goblins. Attacks with his flail, misses. Bonus Action Baleful Interdict the unharmed goblin.
- Goblin Warrior - Flanks Arthas, attacks with scimitar, misses. Nimble Escape to run out of the room this time and into the hallway.
- Xaphan - Moves up to the escaping Goblin Warrior, longsword attack misses. Shield of Faith on himself.
- Goblin Warrior - Bonus Action Disengage out of the room, then Dash Action past Syntax.
- Kailen - Move past Xaphan and up onto a table, attacks using her flail and misses.

- Combat over. We each receive 66 xp.

- Everyone but Syntax looks for loot. Syntax posts up at the entrance to the hallway, where he has been the whole time. We find a Healer's Kit, and enough herbs and whatnot to craft an Herbalism Kit. We find ten two-gallon casks of Goblin Wine. In another room, we see a fancy crystal vial containing an elixir in the corner. In another chamber, we find extra weapons. Arthas checks the vial, which is not magical.
- Kailen tells us we can walk through the large crack in the wall. We also want to check into the pustuled rat. There's also another door in one of the side rooms.
- We check out the door first. Kailen checks it for traps, and finds none. Jafar opens the door.
- Inside is another very small room. Kailen checks the door here as well, and finds no traps. She opens the door.
- In the next room, nodules of fungus hang from the ceiling and grow in clumps on the floor. The light from them illuminate carvings not covered with fungus. They depict dragons in various stages of raining fire down. Some feeble plants are able to grow here. A bench with simple gardening implements stands along the west wall. There is a bugbear gardener tending the plants to the south, and hasn't yet seemed to notice Kailen and Jafar. She points out to us there is one entity in the room she can see. Jafar recognizes and collects a Mandrake Root plant. They're used in various potions, such as Clairvoyance and Torpor. Kailen gestures again that she's moving forward toward the bugbear. We hear the bugbear shout "DON'T STEP ON THE PLANTS. GET OFF THE GRASS!" Jafar tries to talk about how they didn't mean to offend. The bugbear is wielding a sickle menacingly. Kailen asks if he knows the whereabouts of the missing people we've been looking for. The bugbear insists they get off his plants. Kailen gives up and draws her shortbow. INITIATIVE!!!

- Jafar - Dash, move.
- Bugbear Gardener - Critical hit with Glaive at Jafar, dropping him in one shot. OUCH! The gardener meant business when he said to get off his lawn!
- Syntax - Moves in, Eldritch Blast, crit fail.
- Xaphan - Moves in, Toll the Dead on the bugbear gardener, who fails the save, taking necrotic damage.
- Kailen - Flail at the gardener, hits.
- Arthas - Moves down toward Kailen, the bugbear and an unconscious Jafar. Baleful Interdict on the bugbear, throw a javelin, missing.

- Jafar - First Death Save, success! One success, no fails.
- Bugbear Gardener - Continues to taunt us before continuing to attack, missing Kailen with his glaive.
- Syntax - Moves up, Eldritch Blast misses.
- Xaphan - Toll the Dead, fails its save, good damage, nearly taking out the bugbear. Moves further south. Arthas pops his Seal on the bugbear, killing it.
- Combat over. Each of us receives 40 xp.

- Kailen rushes to Jafar's side to stabilize him, but fails. She feeds him her Potion of Healing, bringing him back from the brink of defeat.
- We check for loot. The bugbear had 3g and a Potion of Healing on him.
- Jafar casts False Life on himself.
- Kailen asks if we need aa short rest. Syntax is fine, Jafar could use some healing, and Arthas could use one to regain his Baleful Interdicts. We decide to short rest. We head back a bit into one of the goblin's chambers with one entrance in order to take our Short Rest.
- TSRGBU. (The Short Rest Goes By Uneventfully)
- We head back toward the gardener's area. Syntax gets left behind while working on a Foundry Macro (oh well). Someone opened a door and meets another hostile bugbear. INITIATIVE!!!

- Bugbear Gardener - Hits with glaive for a ton of damage.
- Xaphan - Unaware combat is happening and moves toward where we last fought.
- Kailen - Flail at the bugbear gardener misses. Second Wind.
- Syntax - Perceives the sound of combat from the room we rested in and instructs Jafar to follow. Dashes to catch up.
- Jafar - Follows Syntax.
- Arthas - Baleful Interdict on the bugbear, then his flail misses.

- Bugbear Gardener - Swings his glaive at Arthas and hits.
- Xaphan - Follows Syntax into combat.
- Kailen - Flail hits, he goes Prone thanks to her ability. Arthas pops his interdict Seal.
- Syntax - Moves in, Toll the Dead on the prone bugbear, but it saves. Moves back a bit.
- Jafar - Moves next to Syntax, Readies Fire Bolt for if/when the bugbear stands back up.
- Arthas - Flail attack misses even with Advantage. Moves away, provoking, but it misses.

- Bugbear Gardener - Stands up, triggering Jafar's Fire Bolt, which hits doing a little damage. Glaive at Kailen, hitting and doing enough damage to knock her unconscious.
- Xaphan - Moves into the first garden room, Bonus Action Healing Word on Kailen, bringing her back to consciousness. Readies action to cast Toll the Dead if/when the bugbear enters his line of sight again.
- Kailen - Stands, steps forward, attacks with her flail, misses. Bonus Action Second Wind.
- Syntax - Moves into the second garden room, Eldritch Blast misses.
- Jafar - Moves up into the next room along with Syntax, Fire Bolt hits.
- Arthas - Moves into the doorway, Toll the Dead and it fails and does max damage, killing it!
- Combat over. We each receive 40 xp.

- Xaphan casts Healing Hands on Arthas.
- We check for loot. The bugbear had another Potion of Healing on him, which we give to Arthas for use later if needed.
- We decide to take a Long Rest this time. Back to the goblin room to rest up.
- As we're getting ready to nap, we hear the sound of matchsticks on stone, and chittering. Kailen turns her head to listen at the door. She hears something scratching against the door. A tiny little voice says "Motherfucker." And the long rest goes by uneventfully.
- We all rebuff as usual and head back into the fray.
- We make our way back down into the first gardener's room and check out the door to the west. Kailen thinks it's super safe and super unlocked. She heads to the southern door before opening the western door and checks it out as well. She thinks it's super safe and super unlocked.
- She opens the southern door. Inside are goblins gathering fungus. INITIATIVE!!!

- Arthas - Tries to talk them out of fighting, but fails.
- Kailen - Charges into the room, flail attack hits.
- Goblin Warrior - Moves up to the door and shuts it. Can't see now.
- Goblin Commoner - Can't see what he does.
- Xaphan - Opens the door, attacks Goblin Warrior with his longsword, misses.
- Goblin Warrior - Moves up to the door and shuts it. Can't see now.

- Syntax - Moves up and Readies Eldritch Blast for when the door is opened and will attack the nearest enemy.
- Arthas - Opens the door, triggering Syntax's Readied action, which misses of course. Baleful Interdict, then flail, which hits, and he pops the Seal.
- Kailen - Flail attack hits and kills its target.
- Goblin Warrior - Closes the door. Can't see what happens afterwards.
- Xaphan - Opens the door once again, moves in and attacks with longsword, hits, killing its target.
- Goblin Warrior - Disengage, closes the door. Can't see once again.
- Goblin Commoner - Can't see.

Round 3
- Syntax - Moves up to the door, opens it, moves in, provokes, gets hit, Eldritch blast WHICH FINALLY HITS SOMETHING, Bonus Action Spellfire Flame to use Sacred Flame, the Warrior fails the save, and Syntax is finally able to take something out! Woo!
- Arthas - Moves in and kills the last remaining goblin.
- Combat over. We each receive 26 xp.

- The air in this chamber is terrible thanks to all this fungus. Syntax seems fine though.
- We look for loot. While searching, we find that the fungus is hiding holes in the ground. Not small ones either, but rather 2' diameter holes in different spots around the room. The holes are empty, however.
- Kailen uses Second Wind to heal herself a bit. Xaphan casts Healing Hands on Syntax.
- We move back into the first gardener's room and head to the western door. Kailen opens it. It leads to a very similar room just like what we just left.
- Kailen heads in. She finds no traps, but finds similar holes to those in the previous room. In this particular chamber, several of the fungi are scorched and dead.
- As we begin to search, one of the holes emits a light and out from it comes a fiery, glowy thing. INITIATIVE!!!

- Syntax - Casts Bless on his three companions and moves out of the room around the corner.
- Kailen - Flail attack misses.
- Salamander Fire Snake - Misses with his bite. End of turn, his FIre Aura deals damage to all near him.
- Xaphan - Toll the Dead, the salamander fails its save, taking damage.
- Arthas - Moves in, Baleful Interdicts, and CRITS the salamander with his flail.

- Combat over. We each receive 50 xp.

- Kailen uses Second Wind for some healing.
- As Kailen moves away from the salamander, she catches a glimpse of something shiny down the hole the salamander came from. She finds two sapphires worth 50g each. Nice.
- We find an Ashblossom on the salamander. They're used in Potions of Fire Breath and Fire Resistance, and Burnt Othur Fumes.
